The purpose of the post is to design, develop and deliver a range of training materials to children and young people within a variety of settings encompassing a range of topics that address the issue of violence against women and girls. To deliver training and awareness  sessions within community groups and those who also provide direct services to encourage a consistent, appropriate and effective response to women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deliver a range of materials and resources incorporating workshops, lesson plans and specialised inputs all of which will promote a feminist analysis of violence against women and girls.
  • Actively market, promote and advertise training within the local community.
  • Build and maintain positive professional working relationships within schools, colleges, local authority and other community based environments in order to deliver training programmes within a variety of settings.
  • Research and update materials to ensure the most recent and up to date information is being delivered at all times.
  • Design and deliver specific training materials for organisations delivering a variety of services to women, children and young people within voluntary and statutory sectors.
  • Engage with local services to deliver sessions for hard to reach young people who may not be within mainstream education systems.
  • Devise and implement monitoring and evaluation systems to assess the impact of the inputs.
  • Participate in the delivery of an on-call service to refuge residents.

Relationship Management with Stakeholders and Agencies

  • Proactively promote and build collaborative working relationships with key partner agencies and stakeholders in pursuance of SAWA objectives
  • Attend appropriate meetings and events on behalf of SAWA as directed by the Manager
  • Assist in raising awareness of domestic abuse, and violence against women within South Ayrshire
  • Support the promotion of SAWA’s public and media profile
  • Participate in wider forums and events on behalf of SAWA
  • Develop and maintain good public relations out with the organisation.

  • Promote equality and anti-discriminatory practice throughout all aspects of the work
  • Support colleagues in creating a positive, supportive and participatory working environment
  • Reflect on and evaluate practice to ensure delivery of a professional service
  • Produce a good standard of written reports, when requested and maintain accurate and up to date records
  • Provide reports to funders and other stakeholders on work undertaken when requested by the Manager
  • Participate in organisational planning and decision making and undertake work that furthers the aims and objectives of SAWA.
