The purpose of this post is to provide a range of information, advocacy and advise to women that are referred to our service independently or by referral and this work will be carried out on an outreach capacity within South Ayrshire. Through an initial assessment process the needs of the woman will be identified. The worker will then risk assess, safety plan and complete a support plan to ensure that the support provided is person centred and relevant to her needs.

Other duties include but are not limitless

  • Provide support and information by telephone or in person for women referred to the service.
  • Refer to or advocate with relevant agencies and services and keep women up to date with developments.
  • If required assess the suitability of refuge accommodation on an individual basis and ensure that women are fully informed of SAWA’s Occupancy Agreement and other support service available.
  • Source alternative accommodation or other refuge out with South Ayrshire if requested.
  • Provide assistance with applications for benefits, grants etc. as part of the support plan.
  • To participate in the delivery of an on call service to refuge residents.
  • To promote the work of South Ayrshire Women’s Aid and the rights and needs of women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse with other service providers and policy makers.

  • Support colleagues in creating a positive, supportive and participatory working environment.
  • Develop and maintain good public relations out with the organisation.
  • Provide reports to funders and other stakeholders on work undertaken when requested by the Manager

Relevant Qualifications –

  • SVQ3 or willing to work towards to comply with SSSC registration
  • Driving licence essential
